About the position

The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer - Linux OS at Intel is responsible for deploying, configuring, and managing Linux OS environments, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This role involves managing layered applications, ensuring their performance and security, and implementing automation to enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach and experience in managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of Linux OS environments, specifically RHEL, covering installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain layered applications, including middleware, enterprise software, and security applications.
  • Oversee integration and compatibility of layered applications within the RHEL environment and ensure alignment with network and security standards.
  • Implement automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve system reliability.
  • Apply security best practices to the Linux OS and layered applications, including patch management and vulnerability scanning.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and tuning of both OS and layered applications to ensure system responsiveness and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot complex OS and application-level issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for configurations, integrations, and troubleshooting steps related to layered applications and the Linux OS environment.
  • Collaborate with network and security teams to ensure compliance with company policies and optimal performance across the infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux Server infrastructure engineering.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep expertise in Linux OS environments, particularly RHEL, including configuration, tuning, and support for various layered applications.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting, particularly in Bash or Python.
  • Experience with security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in diagnosing issues across OS, middleware, enterprise applications, and security tools.
