About the position

Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Sr IT Linux and Automation Infrastructure Specialist. The Sr IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for administration and support of infrastructure implementations. You will provide direct technical support for all requirements in the planning, design, coordination, programming, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to infrastructure / information systems, software, transaction monitors, and the range of products and productivity tools that support testing and production environments. Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure infrastructure solutions on hosting platforms, leveraging Linux and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop and implement robust Linux systems in Azure cloud, incorporating best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
• Implement and drive automation initiatives using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks, deployments, and infrastructure management.
• Design and implement observability tools and monitoring to ensure 24/7 system availability, including automating detection of outages, latency, and bottlenecks to track Linux system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization.
• Ensure the integrity and security of infrastructure environments through proactive measures such as access controls and least privileged access.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure processes and practices.
• Create comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and provide training to team members as needed.
• Write Linux deployment standards and ensure the environment meets these standards.
• Assess and advise management on determining next generation technology solutions. Identify and drive improvements in system architecture, operational practices, and tooling to enhance reliability, security, and scalability.
• Participate in on-call duties on a rotational basis.
• Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of Linux architect and design, including deploying, and managing Linux-based infrastructure environment
• 3+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, observability or similar role
• 3+ years of experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell and Jenkins
• Experience in SSL/TLS certificate management
• Experience designing and managing virtual infrastructure solutions in a medium to large environment
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

• 7+ years of Linux architect and design, including deploying, and managing Linux-based infrastructure environment
• Relevant professional certifications such as Azure Cloud, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
