About The Position

The Sr IT Program Manager at the University of Rochester is responsible for leading strategic program activities and coordinating multiple related projects within a cross-functional team. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including clinical, financial, operational, and research teams, to ensure project health and address risks and issues. The Program Manager will provide mentorship and coaching to direct reports, develop requirements and design documentation, and act as an expert in project management methodologies and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, or Engineering.
  • 7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in project management preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Extensive computer literacy, including expertise in Smartsheet, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be required within a year of hire.
  • Agile certification (ACP, DA, or CSM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the scope of the program through collaboration with executive project sponsors and key users.
  • Identify, track, and manage risks and mitigation plans within the assigned program.
  • Monitor progress of program activities and ensure all critical implementation criteria are met.
  • Provide status reports to steering committees.
  • Utilize various project management methodologies to lead the program, including Predictive, Agile/Adaptive, and Hybrid approaches.
  • Manage program scope, timeline, and budget using appropriate governance bodies.
  • Consolidate and maintain project methodology tools and templates.
  • Assist junior project managers in orienting team members to project tools and templates.
  • Coordinate with Architects, Team Leads, and Technology leadership to ensure adherence to department processes.
  • Facilitate program meetings and develop reporting dashboards for Sr. Leadership.
  • Conduct post-program 'lessons learned' sessions to identify successful elements and areas for improvement.
  • Provide functional leadership, performance management, and ongoing coaching of direct reports.
