About the position

The Senior Linux System Administrator position at Randstad US is a contract role based in Henrico, Virginia, with a pay range of $37.06 to $47.06 per hour. This position is critical for ensuring the best practice implementation and operations of patching and vulnerability management/remediation to maintain the security of the bank's infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with application teams and engineering partners to build and modify patching flow instruction documentation. Additionally, the resource will collaborate with various teams, including Systems Administration (SA), Middleware (MW), and Database Administrators (DBA), during patching exercises to resolve any issues that arise. The role requires flexibility, as the resource will be expected to work weekend and afternoon shifts. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems and have experience with patching and vulnerability monitoring/remediation. Familiarity with change and release management processes is essential, along with strong written and oral communication skills. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach and a strong drive for results, persisting in the face of challenges. Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also required. Experience with TruSight (BladeLogic) and automation scripting using BLCli/NSH is considered a plus, as is project management experience. This role is designed for an experienced professional with a minimum of three years in a similar position, holding a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure best practice implementation and operations of patching and vulnerability management/remediation to secure bank infrastructure.
  • Work with application teams and engineering partners to build/modify patching flow instruction documentation.
  • Collaborate with various teams (SA, MW, DBA, etc.) during patching exercises to resolve issues.
  • Perform OS patching and software vulnerability remediation on mission-critical applications with zero downtime.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  • Experience with patching and vulnerability monitoring/remediation.
  • Familiarity with change and release management processes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge/experience in TruSight (BladeLogic).
  • Knowledge/experience in BLCli/NSH automation scripting.
