About the position

The Senior Brand Manager at Ulta Beauty is responsible for driving the development strategy and managing the assortment within their category to maximize sales, margin, and inventory productivity. This role involves collaboration with merchants and merchandise planning teams, overseeing key departmental projects, and mentoring team members. The position requires strategic thinking and leadership to enhance the brand's market presence and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the business area strategy through category review process.
  • Manage individual business area and provide input on categories managed by direct reports.
  • Participate in long-range merchandising and financial strategy, partnering with Merchants and Merchandise Planning & Inventory.
  • Oversee product roadmap development and flow for new launches.
  • Manage product briefs, strategic sourcing, vendor management, and product testing.
  • Evaluate product performance testing results and determine next steps with manufacturers.
  • Collaborate on product packaging design with direct reports and design manager.
  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives in partnership with DMM/VP and Marketing.
  • Oversee key launch marketing plans and Dotcom Brand Store Strategy.
  • Collaborate with buyers on in-store merchandising and marketing collateral.
  • Proactively assess the competitive landscape for opportunities or threats.
  • Oversee direct reports' development and execution of planograms and fixture development.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and develop strategies to address market changes.
  • Exemplify Ulta Beauty's core values and rally the team to align with cultural principles.
  • Act as lead in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Manage vendor portfolio and negotiate terms to support financial plans and strategy.
  • Mentor and develop direct reports for success and promotability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in product development or retail, preferably with financial planning or inventory background.
  • Direct report management experience is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP and SAP Hana is a plus.
  • Creative problem solver with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • High energy innovation leader with strong financial aptitude and analytical ability.
  • Capability to lead brand meetings and presentations.
  • Proven leadership skills in communication, teamwork, collaboration, and relationship building.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and negotiation skills.
