Sr. Manager, Data Engineering

About the position

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to be responsible for building a strong data engineering team for diverse corporate use cases, including pricing and billing. The role involves growing and expanding the team with an eye toward diverse and forward pushing skills that span data engineering, experimentation, and building resilient solutions. The position requires providing technical leadership responsibilities and improving engagement in leading and inspiring teams in their performance and responsibilities. The candidate will engage in technical and functional discussions with all engineering teams, manage multiple work streams, and lead strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including product management, engineering, finance, and operations. The role also includes leading feedback and influencing high-end technical designs into core platform strategy, roadmap, and adoption, establishing best practices in application development, and adhering to Visa's Leadership Principles (VLPs). The position has direct reports and reports to the Employer's Austin, Texas office, with potential for partial telecommuting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field.
• 12 years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Sr. Manager-related occupation.
• Experience in building large-scale data processing pipelines and managing technical application development using SOA and distributed technologies.
• Proficiency in Unix, SQL, Java, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Drools Rule engine, and CI/CD tools.
• Experience in delivery leadership, systems rationalization, and architectural options.
• Familiarity with design thinking processes to create innovative solutions.
• Experience with Agile software development practices using JIRA, Rally or similar products.
• Experience in building and leading dynamic and geographically distributed technology organizations.
• Skills in planning, negotiation, and project management.
• Experience in delivering large-scale global projects on time and within budget.
