About the position

The Sr Manager, Technical Operations Strategy and Project Management Office at American Airlines is responsible for overseeing strategic Technical Operations initiatives, ensuring effective execution and performance. This role involves supervising a team of Project Managers and collaborating with various operational groups to manage and report on key initiatives, while maintaining communication with senior management and operational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight for strategic Technical Operations initiatives for execution and performance.
  • Supervises a pool of Project Managers assigned to strategic initiatives.
  • Provides resources, facilitation needs, guidance, and support for program deliverables across major Tech Ops Initiatives.
  • Communicates regularly regarding the program's progress, milestones, and key decisions across all Technical Operations work groups.
  • Interfaces with Engineering, Planning, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Programs, Quality Control, Line Maintenance, Stores, and Materials Planning to develop and execute plans for strategic initiatives.
  • Addresses and corrects cross-departmental issues in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews, tracks, and reports on team scorecards and plans to Senior Management routinely.
  • Collaborates with divisional product teams to summarize key activities into informative communication packages.
  • Keeps Operational Leadership aware of project progress, risk areas, and key decisions.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree or equivalent training/experience.
  • 8-10 years of airline Technical Operations experience in Engineering, Production, Planning, Programs, or IT related functions.
  • PMP certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of cross-functional elements of Maintenance and supporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze and understand key program elements and dependencies.
  • Ability to develop effective and corrective action plans.
  • Ability to be a team player and lead through influence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels both verbally and written.
