About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for establishing manufacturing and part planning standards for Operations. This position works closely with R&D as new product lines are launched by building SAP data for stock offerings and determining planning rules for custom parts. In addition to new product launches, this position is also responsible for change management within the internal Operations team. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer role requires refined project management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead technicians and/or hourly associates that may not report directly to the incumbent.

Responsibilities

  • Establish part configuration and manufacturing standards for new product offerings in conjunction with new product development engineers.
  • Responsible for change management processes including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Add/Change/Obsolete requests (ACOs).
  • Create finished good and tooling drawing layouts within AutoCAD software.
  • Provide leadership to key associates to promote participation and cooperation in process development/improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures conformance with and application of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for smooth product production/constant production flow.
  • Create, document and implement standard work for Master Data and Art departments.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement activities within the Master Data and Art departments.
  • Develops training systems and support documentation for associates.
  • Provide leadership in assigned areas as well as lead projects in other manufacturing areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer.
  • Strong lean manufacturing skill set and knowledge with experience implementing lean methodologies/tools (pull systems, TPM, one-piece flow, Kanban, POU, standardized work, batch reduction, visual controls, and 5S).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, specifically ISO-9001.
  • Must be a strong team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to drive change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Printing and/or converting industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with SAP, CAD software, AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Access, Smartsheet, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Training Certification and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
