About the position

Process engineering position focused on the manufacturing of the phosphor-coated fiber optics. Responsibilities include optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment to reduce touch time, minimize cost, and increase yield. Working with Operations group to manage process improvement, defect analysis, and operator training. Working in cross functional team settings to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, and productivity problems. Conducting failure analysis of components to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Increase image intensifier performance (Phosphor Efficiency, Resolution, MTF, etc.) as part of cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment to reduce touch time, minimize cost, and increase yield.
  • Working with Operations group to manage process improvement, defect analysis, and operator training.
  • Working in cross functional team settings to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, and productivity problems.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent experience with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • 5 years of technical experience or academic research in optics or related field
  • Effective analytical and communication skills
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and SPC
  • Proficiency with designing structured experimentation
  • Ability to work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operators to production supervisors to engineering colleagues

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in optics manufacturing processes (grinding, polishing, inspection)
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Experience writing complex MS Access queries
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS
  • Ability to collaborate with all facets of the Night Vision organization
  • Comfortable with self-initiating business and professional improvements
  • Ability to support the organizational culture and build morale
