About The Position

The Senior Pipeline Technician - CNG Operations/Truck Driver is responsible for operating, maintaining, and transporting CNG tankers and related equipment to job sites. This role involves supporting the operations and maintenance of Northern Natural Gas compressor stations and pipeline facilities, performing technical work on the largest interstate natural gas pipeline system in the U.S. The position requires a skilled driver with Class A CDL experience and encompasses various technical specialties, including controls, measurement, corrosion, and equipment operation.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL experience driving and operating semi-tractor trailer rigs or large truck trailer combination units.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining CNG equipment.
  • Technical skills in controls, measurement, corrosion, mechanical, LNG operations, and compressor station operations.
  • Ability to perform welding on natural gas pipelines, qualified in API 1104 and ASME standards.

Nice To Haves

  • NACE CP1 Tester certification for corrosion protection.
  • Additional endorsements for hazmat and liquefied natural gas transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and transport CNG tankers and related equipment to job sites.
  • Safely operate and maintain portable CNG decanting equipment.
  • Support operations and maintenance of Northern Natural Gas compressor stations and pipeline facilities as a Senior Pipeline Technician.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers and related equipment.
  • Program, maintain, and troubleshoot gas measurement equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot corrosion protection equipment.
  • Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of liquefied natural gas processes.
  • Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of underground gas storage processes.
  • Perform pigging operations and pipeline right of way maintenance.
  • Transport, inspect, maintain, and operate various mobile heavy equipment.
  • Maintain environmental standards and regulatory compliance for assigned locations.
  • Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on operational equipment.
  • Recognize abnormal operating conditions and support emergency response.
  • Locate pipelines and oversee third-party excavation and line crossings.
  • Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with specifications and safety standards.
