As a Sr Principal System Administrator Lead in the infrastructure Workplace Services, you will collaborate with a diverse team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement, and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems. In this position, you will lead and manage a team of System Administrators to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems and applications within their assigned section. You will provide leadership to support a varied range of administrative tasking, including corrective/preventive maintenance, recurring operations functions, account management, and system optimization. Your managerial duties will include performance and development assessments, career planning, resource management, timecard approval, personal-time-off (PTO) approval and management, and talent interviewing and hiring. You will supervise administrators whose duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space. Additionally, you will develop and monitor policies, standards, processes, and goals for your direct reports. You will coordinate system administrative support for training development/evaluations and operations and sustainment plans, participate in Change Request reviews, and coordinate technical and process document reviews while resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues. You will also participate and lead technical meetings with team members and other program personnel, representing the organization in functional area matters. This role requires providing IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. You must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of your start date. This is a full-time, 100% onsite position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of System Administrators to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems and applications.
  • Provide leadership for a range of administrative tasks including maintenance, operations functions, account management, and system optimization.
  • Perform managerial duties such as performance assessments, career planning, resource management, and timecard approval.
  • Supervise administrators in setting up accounts, maintaining documentation, tuning performance, and installing software.
  • Develop and monitor policies, standards, processes, and goals for direct reports.
  • Coordinate system administrative support for training development and operations plans.
  • Participate in Change Request reviews and Change Management boards.
  • Coordinate technical and process document reviews and resolve system administration issues.
  • Lead technical meetings and represent the organization in functional area matters.
  • Provide IT systems administration in a Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.

Requirements

  • Typically, a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience or 12 years of directly related experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Experience with technologies such as Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam, AWS, MySQL, Remote Desktop Gateway, and prior systems administration experience.
  • Experience in mentoring others or leading teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills including attention to detail, time management, and multitasking ability.
  • An active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance or prior SCI/program eligibility.
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and/or DoD/RMF guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Industry certifications such as Security +, CISSP, ITIL, ISC2, PMP, etc.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
