About the position
At AppFolio, we are innovators and changemakers in the real estate industry, delivering cloud and AI solutions that enhance our customers' experiences. In this role, you will help build common infrastructure and improve the reliability and quality of services. You will work with your team to ensure that all aspects of our shared product spaces are well-managed, including exception reporting, capacity planning, monitoring, alerting, backups, runbooks, configuration management, DDoS protection, infrastructure as code, and disaster recovery. You will collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the reliability and quality of their services, supporting the business success of AppFolio. As a member of the team, you will provide reliable, scalable infrastructure for key components of the AppFolio Real Estate Platform, contributing to the development of critical services and supporting the growth of new features.
Responsibilities
- Build common infrastructure and improve reliability and quality of services.
- Ensure all aspects of shared product spaces have plans for exception reporting, capacity planning, monitoring, and alerting.
- Manage backups, runbooks, configuration management, DDoS protection, infrastructure as code, and disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance service reliability and quality.
- Support the business success of AppFolio by providing reliable, scalable infrastructure.
Requirements
- Experience developing Service Level Indicators and Service Level Objectives.
- Proven ability to diagnose and monitor performance and reliability issues across the stack.
- Strong coding background with experience in production code, bonus points for Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Expertise with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (EKS, RDS Aurora, Lambda, S3, EBS, Route53, DynamoDB, VPCs).
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of industry experience, or equivalent work experience.

- Mastery experience with Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes, MySQL, Linux, container orchestration, Networking.
