About the position

The Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in transforming the technology landscape at Travelers. This position involves advanced software engineering tasks, including designing, developing, and implementing solutions based on user specifications. The individual will act as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and consulting with users to determine system requirements. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and guide team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex analysis and advanced level design for impactful tasks.
  • Lead the implementation of solutions to moderately complex problems aligned with team goals.
  • Deliver efforts independently and by leading other team members.
  • Investigate and resolve critical, high-impact problems and incidents.
  • Act as a technology advocate, seeking opportunities to improve business through technology.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to formulate relevant solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of programming/development experience.
  • Five years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Advanced delivery skills in software design strategy and methodology.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise and ability to influence business priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using data and proofs of concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technology concepts clearly.
  • Advanced leadership skills to inspire and motivate team members.
