About the position

The Sr. Specialist, Internal Communications, plays a crucial role in providing internal communications consultation for various initiatives that focus on event management, brand, and client experience communications. This position involves collaborating with senior team members to develop and implement corporate communication strategies that align with CIBC's business strategy. The specialist will work closely with team members and business partners to create general and specific internal communications, manage intranet and internet content, and develop presentations, speeches, and other related communication activities. The Sr. Specialist will have the flexibility to manage their work activities within a hybrid work arrangement, spending 1-3 days per week on-site while working remotely on other days. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing communication consultation to support key enterprise communications initiatives, developing presentations for various audiences, coordinating and executing enterprise-wide events (both virtual and in-person), and advising internal clients on messaging and communication strategies. Additionally, the role includes editing and writing support for senior management and other communications team members, conducting communications research and audits, and creating templates and resources to align communications with the bank's strategy and purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Provide internal communications consultation for initiatives focused on event management, brand, and client experience communications.
  • Develop general and specific internal communications, intranet and internet content, presentations, speeches, and other related communications activities.
  • Support the development of presentations for various audiences and channels, using different tools and methods.
  • Coordinate and execute various enterprise-wide events (virtual and in-person), implementing event planning efficiencies and best practices.
  • Advise internal clients on appropriate messaging, communication vehicles, target audiences, timing of announcements, and distribution.
  • Provide editing and writing support to senior management and other communications team members.
  • Conduct communications research and audits to measure programs and initiatives on an ongoing basis.
  • Create templates, resources, and tools to help align communications with the bank's strategy and purpose.

Requirements

  • Experience in a corporate communications environment.
  • Degree/diploma in Journalism/Communications or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developed communications writing and presentation skills.
  • Advisory and consultative skills in communication strategies.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience functioning as a key consultant to senior management and division heads.
