About the position

The Sr Staff Electrical Engineer at Insulet will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of electronics for low power RF-controlled wearable medical devices, specifically for infusion pump systems. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality products that improve the quality of life for patients with chronic diseases. The role emphasizes innovative thinking, effective communication, and adherence to project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develops ASIC design specifications to define requirements to 3rd party ASIC design partners
  • Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems
  • Executes research, design implementation, analysis, and verification of technical products and systems
  • Applies principles of electronics and electrical design, focusing on specifying custom ASICs for low power embedded systems
  • Defines requirements for electronic systems and components, particularly microcontroller/system-on-chip and custom logic
  • Creates schematics and circuit board layouts, overseeing fabrication and assembly of prototypes with outside vendors
  • Independently performs experiments, including development of test methods, measurement, and analysis
  • Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems, focusing on data-driven decision making
  • Presents concepts, analysis, and conclusions to stakeholders both technical and non-technical
  • Creates and meets schedules for complex projects with cross-functional dependencies
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Systematic analysis, comparison, and selection of System-on-Chip IP
  • Custom ASIC design processes, including prototyping, optimization, simulation/timing analysis
  • Experience in input/output interface architecture and micro-architecture
  • Experience with evaluating, selecting, and configuring third-party interface IPs
  • Analog, digital, and mixed signal circuit analysis and validation, focused on custom integrated circuits
  • Work closely with design, verification, physical design, and silicon validation teams to ensure the implementation follows the architectural and micro-architectural intent
  • Bluetooth Low Energy design and test techniques
  • Ethical, responsible, and data-driven decision making methodology
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and effective verbal/written communicator
  • Test protocol and report development
  • Lab Equipment Proficiency (Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Signal Generators, etc.)
  • Office Software Proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Engineering Software Proficiency preferred (Cadence OrCAD, Cadence PCB Editor, Matlab, MathCAD, MiniTab)
