About the position

The Embedded Software Architect position at Northrop Grumman involves leading the development of embedded software for military applications, specifically focusing on Software Defined Receivers (SDR). This role is integral to the company's digital transformation efforts, utilizing Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices to enhance national defense capabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with various government R&D organizations and lead a team in advancing navigation and timing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded software platforms utilizing C, C++, Ada or related languages.
  • Lead a software team and navigation experts in a collaborative environment.
  • Apply research and development skills to create real-world products and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with government R&D organizations such as DARPA and AFRL.
  • Present ideas to internal and external groups and represent Northrop Grumman at technical conferences.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience, or Ph.D. in STEM discipline with a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing embedded software utilizing C, C++, Ada or related languages (typically 10+ years of experience).
  • Experience with Green Hills Integrity Real-time Operating Systems and Wind River VxWorks RTOS/BSP for C/C++ or equivalent development tools.
  • Expert knowledge of signal selection, acquisition and tracking, Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) calculation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field with a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience as a Team Lead, Technical Lead, or Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Familiarity with Agile lifecycle processes including Scrum and Continuous Integration.
  • Experience with military GPS modernization and M-code signal processing.
