About The Position

The Senior Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in leading civil engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly focusing on onshore wind projects. This position involves acting as a subject matter expert in wind turbine foundation design and civil engineering for balance of plant components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and project management responsibilities, all while working remotely from the U.S.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position within the renewable industry.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, Plaxis, ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ANSI, ACI, ASME, ASTM, IBC).
  • Experience in engineering consultancy.
  • Good organizational skills and a structured working approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to support multiple teams and flexibility in day-to-day tasks.
  • Structured, analytical mindset with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in solar projects and offshore wind.
  • Strong background in geotechnical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly onshore wind projects.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for wind turbine foundation design and collection system layout.
  • Define requirement specifications for foundation and civil balance of plant designs and review those designs.
  • Act as Owner's Engineer representing the client's interests during project development and execution.
  • Project manage Owner's Engineer onshore wind scopes, supporting project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Identify and address potential issues or risks related to turbine foundations and civil balance of plant.
  • Manage the development of wind turbine foundation designs and optimize collection system layouts.
  • Oversee balance of plant design, including access roads, crane pads, substation grading, and layout.
  • Conduct site visits during project construction to verify implementation of civil designs and review construction quality.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders and provide clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Support regional offices and other departments on foundation and balance of plant related matters and sales activities.
  • Manage geotechnical and survey contractors.
