As a Sr. Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in creating and revising maintenance documents that are essential for ensuring the continued airworthiness of aircraft. This position is based in Wichita, Kansas, and is a full-time onsite role. You will be responsible for authoring various technical publications, including maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, non-destructive testing manuals, tool and equipment manuals, and component maintenance manuals. Your work will involve utilizing engineering database information, engineering drawings, and functional tests to provide detailed instructions to our customers. In this role, you will submit work packages to create illustrations that will accompany the maintenance document instructions, ensuring clarity and usability for the end-users. Quality is paramount, and you will conduct self and peer quality checks of completed work packages to ensure accuracy and consistency. You will also follow established procedures and have the opportunity to improve these procedures as necessary, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our documentation processes. Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with core teams, engineers, and customer service representatives to validate maintenance document procedures, ensuring that all technical publications meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. A background in aviation, whether through a degree in an aviation-related field or equivalent experience in authoring technical documents, is preferred. An A&P license or military aviation maintenance experience with Technical Orders will be considered a significant advantage. You will need to demonstrate a solid understanding of engineering data, with the ability to research and analyze engineering drawings and technical documents effectively. Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of aircraft operations, systems, and maintenance practices, as well as familiarity with GAMA/ATA guidelines, are essential for success in this role.
