About the position

As a Test Engineer at Sierra Space, you will play a crucial role in simulating, testing, certifying, and improving cutting-edge products and services related to space exploration. This position involves developing complex test plans and procedures to ensure the verification and validation of product requirements across a wide range of systems, including advanced mission payloads and electronic systems. You will work with top industry tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams to test new products and develop innovative test processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate, test, certify, and improve products and services related to space exploration.
  • Develop complex test plans and procedures for various systems.
  • Ensure verification and validation of all product requirements.
  • Execute tests using industry-standard tools.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Document Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Typically 10 or more years of experience in engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, conducting, and documenting V&V activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies including manual and automated testing.
  • Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles.
  • Experience performing certification testing for organizations like FAA, NASA, or DoD.
  • Ability to read schematics and use logical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
