About the position

Join KCI Technologies, Inc. as a Senior Designer in our Transportation Practice, where you will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of transportation projects. This position involves reviewing plans for proposed transportation projects and developing final design plan packages that effectively implement the proposed solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of designs within your discipline, supervising related design tasks performed by others, and ensuring that all designs are coordinated and checked for accuracy. In this role, you will also be tasked with scheduling and coordinating work, performing quality control checks, and training other designers in relevant applications. Your expertise will be crucial in managing the work routine of all assigned staff, assigning job activities as required, and ensuring compliance with KCI policies and procedures. You will be expected to achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization targets, attend regular project team meetings, and complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the project scope. As a Senior Designer, you will gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs as needed, and read and interpret technical documents necessary for the performance of your job. You will also review and interpret design manuals and details from local jurisdictions, size and specify design requirements, and ensure that all projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements. Responsibilities

  • Review plans for proposed transportation projects.
  • Develop final design plan packages for the implementation of proposed solutions.
  • Oversee the development of designs within your discipline and supervise related design tasks by others.
  • Coordinate and check designs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Schedule and coordinate work, perform quality control checks, and train other designers in applications.
  • Manage the work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization targets (85% typical).
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with project teams on all projects/tasks.
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the project scope.
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required.
  • Gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs as needed.
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job.
  • Review and interpret design manuals and details from local jurisdictions.
  • Size and specify design requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; AA in Engineering Technology or drafting required.
  • Minimum of 6 - 10+ years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment.
  • Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
