About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled SRE Engineer to join our team in either Sunnyvale, CA or Durham, NC. This position is a contract role that offers a competitive pay range of $65 to $70 per hour. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various Linux distributions, particularly RHEL and CentOS, and will be proficient in working with shells, filesystems, and utilities. The SRE Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems, leveraging their knowledge of distributed computing and container orchestration frameworks, including Kubernetes and Rancher. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and supporting automation scripts using shell, Ansible, and Python to facilitate infrastructure deployments, validations, and monitoring. Your expertise in scheduling monitoring scripts with tools like cron and Airflow will be essential for maintaining operational efficiency. Additionally, you will work with various monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Apica, and Grafana to ensure system health and performance. A solid understanding of database technologies, including both SQL and NoSQL databases, is also required. The SRE Engineer will be involved in building CI/CD pipelines and will need to have a strong knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically AWS. Incident handling and problem management will be key components of this role, as you will be expected to respond to and resolve issues that arise in a timely manner. Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability and performance of systems as an SRE Engineer.
  • Work extensively with Linux distributions, particularly RHEL and CentOS.
  • Create and support automation scripts for infrastructure deployments, validations, and monitoring.
  • Schedule monitoring scripts using cron and Airflow.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Apica, and Grafana to maintain system health.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • Handle incidents and manage problems effectively.
  • Leverage knowledge of distributed computing and container orchestration frameworks.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Linux flavors like RHEL and CentOS.
  • Proficiency in shells, filesystems, and utilities.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing and container orchestration frameworks, including Kubernetes and Rancher.
  • Experience with storage solutions, preferably ONTAP, including volume management, aggregates, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Ability to create and support automation scripts using shell, Ansible, and Python.
  • Experience scheduling monitoring scripts using cron and Airflow.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Apica, and Grafana.
  • Database knowledge, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
  • Experience in incident handling and problem management.
