About the position

The SSS-TRIO Web Communications and Event Specialist at the University of Idaho is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in promoting and marketing the services, programs, and events of the Student Support Services (SSS-TRIO) unit. Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Student Support Services, the Specialist is tasked with coordinating and implementing various promotional campaigns aimed at enhancing the visibility and engagement of the unit's offerings within the campus community. This includes drafting newsletters and strategic communications that effectively reach students and other stakeholders, as well as collaborating with the Associate Director and Vandal Success Strategic Initiatives to ensure that the content on the unit's website and social media platforms is current and engaging. In addition to digital communications, the Specialist is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of all SSS-TRIO events. This includes not only the logistics of the events themselves but also assisting with activities related to the SSS-TRIO Peer Mentor Program. The role requires a blend of creativity and organizational skills, as the Specialist will also be involved in designing promotional materials that resonate with the target audience. The position is integral to fostering a supportive environment for students and enhancing their overall experience at the University of Idaho.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement promotional and marketing campaigns for SSS-TRIO services, programs, and events.
  • Draft newsletters and strategic communications to students and the campus community.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and Vandal Success Strategic Initiatives to develop and maintain website and social media content.
  • Design and create promotional materials for various events and initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and execute all SSS-TRIO events, including those associated with the Peer Mentor Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in public relations, marketing, event planning, or advertising.
  • Experience designing marketing/promotional material using desktop publishing software.
  • Experience with web page development and maintenance.
  • Experience using social media to promote and increase awareness.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Past experience with assessment of outcomes.
  • Past event planning experience.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
