We are looking for a Staff Application Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Director, Applications Engineering and will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.

Responsibilities

  • Primary driver of technical sales activities, developing customer relationships and requirements for the implementation of distributed generation products and solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise to the customer through technical sales presentations and detailed customer engagements.
  • Develop strategic requirements documentation and product solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Create conceptual designs and implementation specifications to demonstrate the feasibility of Bloom’s solution.
  • Support quota attainment by providing technical support and expertise directly to customers.
  • Define customer requirements and establish product specifications for customer solutions.
  • Produce project-specific contract inputs as needed.
  • Technically support the Sales team with Bid and Proposal writing.
  • Understand and overcome customer technical objections and secure approval to proceed with project key.
  • Provide technical feedback based on customer requirements regarding engineering and product management.
  • Define the scope of work during the pre-sales process leveraging internal and external resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in an engineering field from an accredited university or college.
  • 5+ years in a customer-facing and support role.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in power generation, critical power, or fuel cell applications.
  • Knowledge of codes (IBC, local codes), standards (IEEE), and regulations (local, national, or international).
  • Background in energy-related technology and solutions.
  • Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
