About the position

The Staff Attorney positions provide legal counsel and advice to the corporation and its subsidiaries, ensuring their effective operation in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. The roles include various levels of responsibility, from providing legal counsel to participating in litigation and overseeing outside counsel. Each position requires a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to the bar, with increasing years of experience and specialization in relevant areas of law as one progresses from Staff Attorney I to Sr Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Provides legal counsel to the corporation and its subsidiaries.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Participates in litigation.
  • Provides legal counsel, advice, review, and direction to various departments and members of management.
  • Stays abreast of existing and new regulations.
  • Oversees and evaluates the performance of outside counsel.
  • Evaluates, determines, and coordinates appropriate actions or responses.
  • Acts on behalf of the company and participates in negotiations and drafting of legal documents.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to the bar.
  • Two (2) years of experience for Staff Attorney I.
  • Four (4) years of experience for Staff Attorney II.
  • Six (6) years of experience for Sr Attorney.
  • Ten (10) years of experience for Sr Counsel, with at least three (3) years in a job-specific area of law.
  • Superior academic record.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong negotiation, human relations, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-house or firm experience in negotiation of complex procurement agreements.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • History of successfully leading projects in coordination with sourcing, procurement, marketing, advertising, healthcare, security, compliance, operations, or similar business teams.
