Staff Data Scientist, Marketing

About the position

Etsy is looking for a Staff Data Scientist to join the Marketing Analytics team in Brooklyn, focusing on marketing mix modeling. This full-time position will support Etsy's ATL & Brand Marketing teams and requires presence in the Brooklyn Office once or twice per week. The role involves automating complex data pipelines, developing and refining models, and building proprietary tools to advance Etsy's marketing mix modeling practice. The Marketing Analytics team provides insights and measurement techniques to drive the success of marketing efforts at Etsy, partnering with various teams to improve the user experience and marketing measurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Apply the latest advances in analytics to marketing mix modeling workstream, including data management, modeling, and report automation
• Prototype, optimize, and implement marketing mix models to guide marketing team's testing priorities and investment decision making
• Work cross-functionally with marketing teams and communicate ideas and model capabilities to analytics and marketing stakeholders
• Continually evaluate and refine technical toolkit, sharing learnings with the team
• Work closely with analytics and marketing leaders to improve the quality and depth of marketing measurement processes

Requirements

• 6+ years of proven experience as a data scientist/analyst or in a quantitative role with direct experience developing and testing marketing mix models
• Mastery of SQL (experience with BigQuery preferred)
• Advanced proficiency in R/Python
• Experience with existing open source MMM packages, Looker, Looker Studio or other data visualization software is a bonus
• Passion for experimental design, time series modeling, and causal inference
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
