About the position

The Staff Electrical Engineer position at Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. involves designing, developing, and testing advanced electrical-optical technologies for In-Vitro blood analyzers and lab automation systems. The role requires collaboration with a diverse engineering team and emphasizes innovation in healthcare technology. The engineer will engage in hands-on work, circuit analysis, and ensure compliance with industry standards while supporting manufacturing and field service teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test analog and mixed signal circuits for various applications.
  • Perform detailed circuit analysis, simulation, reliability prediction calculations, and troubleshooting.
  • Create detailed design documentation including schematics, test procedures, and specifications.
  • Build and integrate electronics with optical, mechanical, and embedded software components.
  • Characterize and test designs using bench-top laboratory equipment and develop test scripts.
  • Conduct complex design verification tests and document design failures and technical issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into designs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support manufacturing and field service teams with technical expertise during production and post-production phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field with minimum 7 years of demonstrated practical success in electronics design, or MSEE/PhD with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in designing, simulating, and testing analog circuits.
  • Extensive experience with control systems, including filter design, PID control, feedback loops, and stability analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, design, and develop varying sensing electronics.
  • Solid understanding of EMI/EMC considerations and mitigation techniques.
  • Proficient in using ECAD and EDA tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition, SPICE, or similar.
  • Ability to engage in hands-on work in the lab, building and testing designs using oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring and leading a small engineering team to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and embedded software (firmware) development.
  • Experience with optical test equipment such as autocollimators and spectrophotometers.
