About The Position

The Staff Engineer Software (Full Stack - Frontend Focused) at Palo Alto Networks is responsible for designing and implementing innovative cloud services that enhance cybersecurity. This role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and technical expertise in developing state-of-the-art products that address real-world security challenges. The engineer will engage in all phases of the product development cycle, ensuring high-quality code and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent military experience
  • 1+ years of proven hands-on experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with a focus on frontend development
  • 1+ years of proven hands-on experience with strong proficiency in Javascript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js)
  • Strong UX/UI design intuition and the ability to collaborate effectively with product and design teams
  • Strong proficiency with build tools (e.g., Webpack) and frontend testing frameworks
  • Strong proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services
  • Solid programming skills in GoLang and Python are a plus
  • Solid skills with Kubernetes and Docker are a plus
  • Rich experience with GCP is a plus
  • Rich experience with SQL and No-SQL DB technologies such as MySQL and Redis is a plus
  • DevOps experience is a plus
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a can-do attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud security practices
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and implementation of AppID cloud services for public and private cloud features
  • Engage in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition and design to implementation and testing
  • Provide real-time security services to customers
  • Collaborate with Product Line Management (PLM) on new feature requirements
  • Work with Quality Assurance (QA) and DevOps on new release deployments
  • Assist support teams in handling customer issues
  • Collaborate with security researchers and data scientists on new feature requests
  • Write clean, testable, readable, scalable, and maintainable code that performs well for thousands of customers
