About the position

The PLM Solutions Engineer for ECAD Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) will be an integral member of Rivian's PLM & Product Development Systems team, supporting the architecture and management of ECAD PLM processes, particularly within Arena PLM and 3DExperience. This individual will leverage their engineering expertise in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, as well as their knowledge of PLM best practices, to optimize Rivian's engineering change processes, component sourcing, and ECAD-MCAD collaboration. In this role, you will provide critical expertise in managing new part requests, engineering change orders (ECOs), and engineering change requests (ECRs), with an understanding of automotive ECUs and PCBA structures. Your knowledge of component attributes, plastic enclosure design, and collaboration between ECAD and MCAD domains will ensure cohesive, efficient workflows across our design and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for ECAD Product Lifecycle Management within Arena PLM, ensuring optimal processes and integrations.
  • Architect and maintain robust PLM solutions for managing New Part Requests, Engineering Change Requests, and Engineering Change Orders, ensuring efficient, traceable, and compliant workflows.
  • Collaborate with component engineering teams to streamline component sourcing processes, with a deep understanding of component attributes such as cost, lead time, and end-of-life data.
  • Support PLM integrations that enable seamless ECAD-MCAD collaboration, leveraging IDF and IDX standards to bridge ECAD and MCAD design requirements effectively.
  • Provide expertise on automotive ECU and PCBA structures, ensuring accurate representation and management within PLM systems.
  • Facilitate efficient collaboration between engineering teams and the supply chain to improve component selection, sourcing, and lifecycle management.
  • Support design and management of plastic enclosures and ECAD-MCAD collaborative efforts to enhance product quality and manufacturability.
  • Act as the technical liaison between engineering, IT, and vendor teams to drive application support, resolve technical issues, and implement timely upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience with PLM systems, particularly with Arena PLM, and knowledge of PLM best practices.
  • Proven expertise in managing engineering change processes (NPR, ECR, ECO) and knowledge of component sourcing practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive ECUs, PCBA structure, and component engineering processes.
  • Familiarity with component attributes, including cost, lead time, and end-of-life, as well as plastic enclosure design considerations.
  • Extensive experience with ECAD-MCAD collaboration, including IDF and IDX standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Experience in a high-growth environment is a plus, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Benefits

  • Robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26.
