About the position

The Staff Psychologist position at the Fargo VA Health Care System involves providing comprehensive psychological services to veterans within a Whole Health System of care. The role emphasizes the application of advanced diagnostic methods and evidence-based interventions to address a wide range of mental health issues. The psychologist will work independently, providing direct patient care, consultation, and supervision of trainees, while contributing to the overall mission of improving veterans' health and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders.
  • Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and psychoeducational groups.
  • Provides consultation to professional staff within the Fargo VA and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  • Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
  • Functions independently as a member of the Fargo VA Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges.
  • Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures.
  • Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by ICC Leadership and Facility Director.
  • Attends regular Psychology Service staff meetings, Medical Staff meetings, and complies with Psychology Service peer review procedures.
  • Provides clinical supervision and instruction for psychology students, pre-doctoral interns and residents.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA.
  • Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting with veterans or similar populations.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for mental health disorders.
