About the position

Join Intuit's DevX group as a Staff Software Engineer focused on developing the Service Mesh for the Intuit Kubernetes Service. This role involves working with cutting-edge technology built on the open-source Istio project, which, when coupled with Intuit's Kubernetes Service, has transformed service-to-service communication for hundreds of services within Intuit's ecosystem. The Service Mesh team is dedicated to reinventing service-to-service communication at scale, innovating, and contributing back to the open-source community. Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining, and innovating large scale, developer-facing platforms.
  • Implementing security best practices in software development.
  • Addressing development challenges associated with the adoption of API Gateway or Service Mesh platforms in large organizations.
  • Understanding and applying networking fundamentals in software solutions.
  • Working with network proxies such as nginx, envoy, or rust.
  • Managing and optimizing L4/L7 load-balancers.
  • Utilizing Kubernetes and Docker for application deployment and management.
  • Building platforms that support microservices ecosystems.
  • Implementing networking solutions within Kubernetes environments.
  • Working with Istio or any Service Mesh technologies.
  • Utilizing Envoy and envoy WASM filters in projects.
  • Maintaining and contributing to open-source projects.
  • Engaging in continuous learning and research of emerging open-source technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Experience developing scalable consumer-facing SaaS software using modern technologies including Istio, Go, Kubernetes, and RESTful web services.
  • Experience with leveraging, contributing to, and leading open-source community projects.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who is hypothesis-driven and uses data, judgment, and pattern recognition for learning and moving quickly.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work-related experience.
