About the position

This position is for a staff IT Support technician who will work under moderate supervision at Collins Aerospace in Windsor Locks, CT. The role involves supporting, maintaining, developing, and troubleshooting operational network computer and telecommunication systems, as well as related hardware and software components. The technician will conduct moderately complex documentation activities and coordinate the installation of hardware and software. Additionally, the technician will assist in orienting, training, and assigning work to technical and business support employees. The technician will perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and maintenance of network computer systems, components, and applications. They will also implement measures to improve the performance, security, and availability of computer systems and applications. Monitoring and documenting operational statistics such as usage, performance, security/access, errors, and availability will be a key responsibility. The technician will ensure that business data and systems are adequately protected and backed up according to existing procedures and guidelines. In this role, the technician will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain end-user systems and applications, while staying updated with the latest technology developments to ensure best practices are applied. Participation in projects with other IT departments and external vendors will also be part of the job. The position is onsite, and the technician will have the opportunity to foster relationships with peers globally and work closely with Network Administrators to monitor and troubleshoot local area networks.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with high schoolers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
