About the position

As a Staff Technical Writer at Cribl, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between product development, design, and our customers. This position is integral to the Technical Guidance team, which is responsible for creating and maintaining documentation that helps users effectively utilize Cribl's products. Your work will directly impact thousands of users who rely on our content daily to navigate complex IT and security challenges. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and writing skills to produce high-quality documentation that is clear, concise, and user-friendly. You will be expected to engage with various teams, including engineering and product management, to gather information and insights that will inform your writing. Your ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into accessible language will be crucial as you develop user manuals, online help, and in-product guidance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to learn about our products and the industries we serve. You will be encouraged to explore innovative ways to present information and enhance the user experience. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation for Cribl products.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and design teams to gather information and insights for documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for end-users.
  • Create user manuals, online help, and in-product guidance that enhance the user experience.
  • Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback and product updates.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in technical writing and documentation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in the software or IT industry.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts related to IT and security.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Confluence, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data management and security practices.
