About the position

The Lead Barista at Kroger is responsible for ensuring high service standards in the coffee department by providing prompt and quality coffee selection, preparation, and customer service. This role involves supervising department personnel, maintaining stock and supplies, and executing Starbucks programs and policies. The Lead Barista plays a crucial role in creating a positive customer experience while upholding the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure service standards are met and surpassed by providing customers with prompt, quality coffee selection, purchase, and preparation.
  • Monitor total department conditions and follow through to maintain standards.
  • Assist in supervision and direction of department personnel to ensure quality customer service.
  • Delegate job assignments and responsibilities to associates in accordance with duty rosters.
  • Order and maintain stock and supplies, monitoring conditions and appearance throughout the department.
  • Monitor code dates and product rotation, removing out-of-code products.
  • Hold personnel accountable for their job assignments and responsibilities.
  • Write department schedules, coordinating requests and bids with business needs.
  • Assist customers in the selection and purchase of specialty coffee beverages and whole bean sales.
  • Maintain customer service area and equipment in a clean and appealing manner.
  • Prepare a variety of customer beverage orders such as espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day.
  • Execute and adhere to all Starbucks programs, policies, and promotions.
  • Follow store policies and procedures for operational flow at each station.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with cleaning standards and work as a store team player.
  • Perform equipment maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance checklist.
  • Follow cash handling and register policies.
  • Follow inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and associates.
  • Act professionally and demonstrate clear communication with all customer and partner interactions.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.

Requirements

  • Must be a trained and certified barista.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and courteously.
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
  • Prior food handling experience.
  • Supervisory skills.
