About the position

The Digital and Media Communications Intern will assist the Office of Communications within the Department of Health and Human Services in creating content for online newsletters, websites, and social media accounts. This internship aims to provide hands-on experience in a full-service communications office, enhancing the intern's skills and portfolio while contributing to public health communication efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating content for online newsletters, websites, and social media accounts.
  • Respond to media requests and write news releases.
  • Write articles for internal and external newsletters.
  • Monitor social media and draft posts.
  • Create graphics and manage web content.

Requirements

  • Must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending a college, university, law school, community college, or technical institute in North Carolina.
  • Must carry a 2.5 or greater overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2025.
  • Must be continuing education in the fall following participation in the program.
  • For law internships, must have completed at least one year of law school before the internship begins.
