About The Position

The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) at Embassy of Swanton is responsible for providing care and support to residents with impaired abilities due to various health conditions. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, maintaining their comfort, and ensuring their safety under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The STNA plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by delivering compassionate care and adhering to established protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess a certificate for state tested nursing assistant.
  • Must be a licensed S.T.N.A. in accordance with state laws.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and confidentiality practices.

Responsibilities

  • Follow physicians' orders for resident care and directions from the physical therapist.
  • Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function possible.
  • Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Ensure that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident and assist with their comfort.
  • Assist residents with daily personal care functions such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' care and report any incidents or accidents observed during the shift.
  • Participate in nursing report upon reporting for duty and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas.
  • Assist with feeding residents and ensure their dietary needs are met during meal times.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain certification as a Nursing Assistant.
