About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer at Körber Supply Chain LLC plays a crucial role in the bid development team, focusing on the design and proposal of material handling systems. This position involves mentoring junior engineers, creating technical documents, and ensuring that solutions meet client specifications while enhancing operational efficiency. The role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to manage multiple client projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor junior applications engineers within the bid development team.
  • Create concepts and manifests based on customer requirements outlined in RFPs.
  • Support the bid development process from receipt of RFP to proposal submission, including RFQ packages and technical SOW writing.
  • Demonstrate expertise in material handling system design and equipment technology.
  • Lead design efforts based on client requests for material handling systems.
  • Provide technical expertise during the sales phase to showcase Körber's capabilities.
  • Support multiple client projects with budgets ranging from $100K to $250M.
  • Conduct external and internal meetings with clients as required.
  • Create and utilize Material Flow Calculators to develop the Basis of Design (BOD).
  • Be a subject matter expert on various types of material handling equipment.
  • Create Process Flow Diagrams and Material Flow Diagrams.
  • Ensure mechanical system designs align with electrical control capabilities.
  • Create Basis of Design and Description of Operation documents.
  • Provide mechanical support for system and product simulation and emulation testing.
  • Work with the execution team and operations after project award to ensure successful handoff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with core customer specifications.
  • Proficiency in automation layout and design using AutoCAD 2D and Navisworks.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Basic understanding of automation controls and interest in cross-discipline responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document technical decisions with illustrations and clear explanations.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality output to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
