Acorn Stairlifts is seeking a Storage Administrator to join our team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing our file share infrastructure, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and backup systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our file shares and SANs, while also implementing and maintaining robust backup solutions to safeguard our data. As the Storage Administrator, you will manage and administer file share systems, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance. You will design, implement, and maintain SANs to meet performance and capacity requirements, while enforcing security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data. Proactively managing SAN and NAS storage environments will be a key part of your role, as you will monitor alerts, incoming work pipelines, and troubleshoot complex hardware and performance issues. You will also work with storage technology vendors to resolve challenges and optimize storage infrastructure. In addition, you will manage the backup infrastructure, including backup software, tape libraries, and disk-based backup systems. Developing and regularly testing backup and recovery strategies will be essential to ensure data integrity and availability. You will monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular backups and restores as needed. Documentation will also be a significant part of your responsibilities, as you will develop and maintain backup procedures and disaster recovery plans. Staying informed about emerging technologies and best practices in file share, SAN, and backup management will be crucial for making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer file share systems, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing file share systems, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and backup infrastructure in enterprise environments, with a specific focus on backup management.
  • Proficiency in storage technologies, such as NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and SAN/NAS architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, backup software, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam, BackupExec, Avamar or similar solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex storage and backup issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Storage+, EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Veeam Certified Engineer) are a plus.
