About the position

The Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator will provide technical leadership and support for storage tasks within the client's Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure Services (ECIS) Team. This role involves managing and maintaining the SAN infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, and supporting both virtual and physical server environments. The SAN Administrator will be responsible for configuration, implementation, and management of storage solutions, including backup and recovery services, while adhering to security protocols and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Storage Area Networks.
  • Resolve SAN tickets escalated from the service desk and provide weekly Messaging Status reports.
  • Provide SAN Capacity Reports and Performance Metrics monthly.
  • Document and guide Tier 1 service desk for handling standard SAN-related incidents and service requests.
  • Submit and execute SAN-related Request for Change (RFC) tasks.
  • Monitor the health of SANs using government-provided event management tools.
  • Provide project support for SAN-related technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team on SAN issues.
  • Support change management processes and participate in Change Review Boards.
  • Implement thresholds to monitor tools and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG).
  • Provision new storage including LUNs, VMware datastores, and command shares as needed.

Requirements

  • Professional series Certification e.g., NetApp (NCDA), EMC (EMCISA), Virtualization cert.
  • IAT III Certification (CASP+ce, CCNP Security, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH).
  • In-depth understanding of iSCSI, CIFS, and NFS protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware vCenter, HA, DRS.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing/configuring SAN storage devices.
  • Understanding of networking and configuring Windows Server.
  • Experience with SnapCenter.
