About the position

The Store Manager at West Marine is responsible for leading the store team to ensure an exceptional experience for both customers and associates. This role requires a strong understanding of retail operations, sales strategies, and customer service, with a focus on becoming the best local boat parts seller. The Store Manager will guide the team to meet financial objectives, enhance customer satisfaction, and maintain a high standard of store presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of staff.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Achieves financial objectives by understanding the store's annual sales and expense budget.
  • Utilizes Monthly Staffing Guide to address service deficits and optimize payroll allocations.
  • Executes programs and procedures that drive sales with the team and customers.
  • Develops store strategies to grow customer count and loyalty members.
  • Works with PRO Market Team Managers to grow wholesale business and market share.
  • Ensures the store and staff represent the highest expression of the brand and service.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals.
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge of staff and management through training.
  • Delegates responsibilities to crew members while enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Resolves internal staff conflicts efficiently.
  • Protects crew members and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least two years of retail experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain budgets.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.

  • Experience in sales is a plus.
