About the position

As a Store Manager at Walgreens, you will be responsible for managing the overall operation of the store, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently. Your primary goal will be to improve store sales, profitability, and image through effective merchandising, safeguarding store assets, and the selection, training, and development of team members. You will also be tasked with modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience, which is a cornerstone of Walgreens' service philosophy. In this role, you will monitor and analyze the customer service provided by your team, offering reminders, training, and encouragement as needed. You will greet customers and clinic patients, assisting them with products and services, and resolving any complaints or special needs they may have. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that all team members are equipped with the best practices for customer service, fostering an environment where customer satisfaction is paramount. Operationally, you will supervise the store and pharmacy, overseeing tasks such as opening and closing procedures, scheduling, and task delegation. You will manage the store's finances, including register counts and bookkeeping, and ensure that merchandising is executed effectively. This includes planning and implementing promotional displays and managing inventory levels to avoid stockouts and overstock situations. You will also ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, particularly concerning the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and pharmacy products. Your role will involve daily planning and execution, where you will assign operational responsibilities and set expectations for your team. You will analyze financial and performance data to develop action plans aimed at increasing sales and controlling costs. Additionally, you will work closely with the pharmacy manager to enhance pharmacy performance and support clinic operations. People management is a key aspect of your role. You will be responsible for managing team member performance, providing feedback, and ensuring timely completion of training programs. You will also handle hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions, fostering a culture of teamwork and motivation among your staff. Regular communication with team members will be essential to maintain an open dialogue and ensure that everyone is aligned with the store's goals. Finally, you will participate in ongoing training and personal development to improve your skills and productivity, ensuring that you remain compliant with state laws regarding pharmacy technician registration and licensure. You will serve as a liaison between the district, corporate, and the store, facilitating communication and community outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and analyzes customer service provided by team members.

  • Supervises operation of the store and pharmacy, including opening/closing and scheduling.
  • Supervises control of store money and oversees bookkeeping.
  • Supervises merchandising and implements promotional displays.
  • Analyzes inventory trends and manages inventory levels.
  • Ensures execution of District Manager operational feedback.
  • Implements store organization through hiring and scheduling.
  • Ensures store cleanliness and manages maintenance.
  • Manages operations in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensures staff knowledge of computer and technology systems.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assigns daily operational responsibilities and sets expectations for team members.
  • Analyzes financial and performance data to develop action plans.
  • Reviews KPIs and prepares to discuss with district management.
  • Analyzes asset protection data and implements action plans to reduce loss.
  • Analyzes pharmacy performance indicators and supports pharmacy manager.
  • Identifies sales opportunities for store and pharmacy growth.
  • Manages team member performance and career progression.
  • Monitors completion of required training programs for team members.
  • Makes hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
  • Addresses issues and disciplines store team members.
  • Develops employee performance plans and follows up on deadlines.
  • Monitors and approves team member compensation.
  • Promotes teamwork and motivates team members.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and employment laws.
  • Communicates regularly with team members through discussions and meetings.
  • Participates in company training to improve skills and productivity.
  • Follows performance improvement plans offered by District Manager.
  • Obtains pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law.
  • Serves as liaison between district, corporate, and the store.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of retail management experience.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state OR pharmacy assistant in WA state OR licensed Rph as soon as possible, no later than 12 months from Store Manager position start date.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • PTCB or ExCPT Certification.
  • Three years retail management experience, including supervising others, managing, and assigning work.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state OR pharmacy assistant in WA state OR licensed Rph.
