About the position

LMI, a private, not-for-profit research institute, is seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team in the Northern Virginia area. This role is pivotal in providing strategic communication services that effectively convey government initiatives and priorities across various offices and the broader government landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering a diverse array of communication materials that resonate with both internal and external stakeholders. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying business needs and seizing opportunities for continuous improvement within individual, team, business unit, and organizational processes. In this role, you will coordinate closely with Program Office leadership to prioritize potential initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic drivers. You will also be tasked with developing customer-facing and partner-facing collateral and presentations, which are essential for effective communication and engagement. A key aspect of this position is to build powerful communications through sound strategy and excellent execution, overseeing client brand strategy and ensuring its successful implementation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in strategic communications, with the ability to research and draft original content tailored for various communication channels and methods. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved. Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic communication services to communicate Government initiatives and priorities across the office and the Government.
  • Design and deliver a variety of communications materials.
  • Create pro-active and responsive solutions to business needs and seize opportunities for continuous improvement in individual, team, business unit, and organizational processes.
  • Coordinate with Program Office leadership to prioritize potential initiatives in the context of strategic drivers, identifying and de-conflicting cross-initiative schedules and resources as needed.
  • Develop customer-facing and partner-facing collateral and presentations as required.
  • Build powerful communications through sound strategy and excellent execution.
  • Oversee client brand strategy and ensure successful implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field; high school, vocational school, or trade school diploma and five (5) years' work experience in a similar field may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in strategic communications with the ability to research and draft original content for a variety of communication channels and methods.
  • Ability to plan, develop, design and revise corporate websites is desired.
