About the position

The Strategic Project Manager is responsible for leading and planning technology projects that align with the organizational mission and objectives. The position serves as a liaison between county agencies, the department of technology services, and system vendors. You will work collaboratively with managers to understand requirements, develop management plans, and maintain project documentation. The position oversees and reports on project status, manages resources and assignments, and ensures project milestones are met.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Develop project proposals, charters, and management plans.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management including technology roadmap.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of the assigned project.
  • Coordinate resources and expertise to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project objectives.
  • Serve as point of contact for projects.
  • Report on project status.
  • Develop project scope through accepted change management processes, impact assessment, and documentation.
  • Lead project operations to meet standards set in Federal, State, and local laws.
  • Partner with legal counsel to ensure department policies, procedures, and contracts meet applicable standards.
  • Foster collaboration and provide learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate a supportive work environment.
  • Independently ensure all work is complete and timely to achieve department goals.
  • Review work of others to ensure that organizational standards are met.
  • Exhibit integrity, ethics, and fiscal responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
