About the position

The Stress Relief Journeyman position at Bechtel involves working in industrial construction, specifically focusing on stress relief techniques. The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience as a journeyman stress relief technician, demonstrating a solid understanding of stress equipment and recorders. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise with stress equipment and workpieces, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. In this position, the journeyman will be responsible for formulating the necessary diameter pipe and pads for preheating and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) to achieve specific temperatures. Proficiency in using small power tools, such as die grinders and right angle grinders, is essential. The ability to read and comprehend piping isometric drawings is crucial, and familiarity with piping and instrument diagrams is preferred. The candidate should also be capable of efficiently planning work and proficient in pipe layout, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation, as well as performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment. The role requires the ability to safely traverse uneven terrain while carrying tools and building materials, and the candidate must be comfortable climbing vertical ladders and working from heights as necessary. Punctuality and a dependable level of attendance are critical, in accordance with project work rules.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and fix problems arising from stress equipment to workpieces.
  • Formulate the diameter pipe and pads needed for preheat and PWHT to achieve specific temperatures.
  • Proficiently use small power tools such as die grinders and right angle grinders.
  • Read and comprehend piping isometric drawings and support details/drawings.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation.
  • Clean and perform minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
  • Plan work efficiently and proficiently layout pipes.
  • Safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
  • Climb vertical ladders and work from heights as necessary.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in industrial construction as a journeyman stress relief technician.
  • Knowledge of basic stress equipment and recorders.
  • Basic rigging skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend piping isometric drawings.
  • Ability to read piping and instrument diagrams (preferred).
  • Proficient in the use of small power tools (i.e., die grinder, right angle grinder).
  • Capable of efficiently planning work and proficient in pipe layout.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality in accordance with project work rules.
