Responsibilities

• Perform structural modeling, design, and oversight for bridge and other transportation infrastructure projects
• Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates, and calculation packages
• Provide technical support to structural engineering staff
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports, etc.
• Assist in preparing qualification packages, proposals, and/or contracts involving technical approach, costs, and scheduling
• Provide project management support
• Lead structural inspections/evaluations and associated load capacity ratings
• Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews
• Assist project managers with coordination between various groups working on structural projects
• Participate in the proposal process, determining client requirements and developing plans, specifications, quantities of materials, construction cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, and related documents

Requirements

• 5-8 years of structural bridge/transportation design experience required
• B.S. in Civil Engineering required (structural emphasis preferred)
• PE license required or ability to attain within 6 months
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required
• Experience completing engineering studies, design reports, compiling contract documents, and developing contract plans in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures
• Strong familiarity with structural engineering software (e.g., Mathcad, FB-MultiPier, ATLAS, STAAD Pro, LARSA 4D, AASHTOWare, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, FDOT Structures Design Programs)
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and quality
• Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design and critical thinking
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Experience with and motivation to lead and mentor junior staff
• Project management skills

Nice-to-haves

• Model-based design experience including Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit/Infraworks/Inventor
