About the position
We are seeking a Structural/Civil Engineer with a P.E. license and a construction background to conduct forensic investigations of various types of buildings, including commercial, institutional, high-rise, and residential structures. The role involves a mix of fieldwork and office duties, with a focus on determining the causes of structural failures and construction defects, as well as evaluating damages from various incidents.
Responsibilities
- Determine the cause and origin of structural failures and construction defects
- Conduct field inspections to document onsite conditions
- Conduct roof damage evaluations for residential and commercial structures
- Conduct moisture/water intrusion damage evaluations
- Prepare and provide oral and written reports
- May be called upon for expert witness testimony
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- 7+ years of professional experience
- P.E. license in the state applying to (ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT)
- NCEES (Preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of building materials, residential and commercial construction, and building codes
