About the position

The Structural Water Engineer will function as a technical specialist or lead, developing and applying advanced engineering techniques to complex engineering problems. This role involves supervising engineering staff, executing structural analysis, and preparing designs for water and wastewater treatment plants and other facilities. The engineer will also coordinate with architects and other engineers, manage project resources, and ensure adherence to engineering standards and quality control requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities.
  • Supervise Structural Engineers and work with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications.
  • Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFI's, and review of contractor submittals.
  • Perform project administrative tasks including preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, and management of project changes.
  • Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers.
  • Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values of up to $100M.
  • Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and provide technical guidance to others.
  • Implement resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country, or in active pursuit of such registration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program.
  • Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
