About The Position

The Student Program Advisor - Raíces (Substitute) is a full-time temporary role focused on providing outreach and support services for a student services program. The advisor will assist program participants with enrollment, monitor their progress, and provide information to students, parents, and the community. This position is estimated to last about 50 days or 400 hours, with a maximum of 40 hours of work per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, psychology, or related field.
  • One year of experience working with secondary and post-secondary school-aged students in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach and support services for assigned student services program.
  • Assist program participants with obtaining and maintaining program enrollment.
  • Monitor the attendance, goals, and progress of program participants.
  • Confer with students, parents, and community members to exchange information and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and conduct workshops and presentations for community organizations and schools.
  • Input student information into SEVIS or other computer systems and maintain related databases.
  • Compile information and prepare records and reports related to student goals and progress.
  • Recruit, train, and provide work direction to assigned staff and student workers.
  • Assist students with transitioning out of assigned programs after goals are met.
  • Attend and participate in assigned meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
