About the position

The Student Services Specialist position at Rio Salado Community College is a full-time role focused on supporting students in the Bachelor's Degree Program offerings. This position is grant-funded with a projected end date of June 30, 2025, and may be renewed based on available funds and the needs of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). The specialist will assist both new and continuing students with various student services processes, providing guidance on program selection, career choices, admissions, registration, business office inquiries, and financial aid. The role is crucial in ensuring that students navigate their educational journey effectively and receive the necessary support throughout their time in the program. In addition to direct student support, the specialist will monitor student records, assist with the maintenance of student files, and help with end-of-program audits and certification paperwork. The position also involves advising students on certificate, transfer, and graduation requirements, ensuring that they are well-informed about their academic progress and options. The specialist will play a key role in marketing and partnership presentations related to the Bachelor's Degree, contributing to the overall success of the Educator Preparation Program. The work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm during the academic year, with extended hours during the summer months. The position allows for a combination of onsite and remote work, tailored to the department's needs. Responsibilities

  • Assists new and continuing Bachelor Degree seeking students with all student services processes, providing an overview and guidance for program selection, career choices, admissions, registration, business office, and financial aid.
  • Advises students regarding certificate, transfer, and graduation requirements.
  • Monitors students' records and assists with the maintenance of student files.
  • Maintains students records and enrollment needs.
  • Assists with marketing and partnership presentations regarding the Bachelor's Degree; assists with providing data associated with all Bachelor Degree Teacher Education students/program; performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
  • High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) years of work experience in a PK-12 or higher education student services setting.
  • Experience within an educator preparation program or state education system.
  • One (1) or more years of experience using Google suite products.
  • Prior knowledge of university transfer processes.
