About the position

The position is for a graduate student Research Assistant (RA) at LSU Health New Orleans, specifically within the School of Public Health. The RA will support research projects focused on HIV risk among sexual minority women, engaging in tasks such as IRB application assistance, participant recruitment, qualitative data collection, and analysis. This role is ideal for self-motivated individuals with strong organizational skills who can manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of IRB protocol, consent forms, and submission process.
  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment of study participants for in-depth interviews.
  • Conduct one-on-one in-depth interviews with participants on Zoom (experience required).
  • Assist with coding and analyzing qualitative data (NVivo or similar software experience preferred but not required).
  • Input and manage data in OneDrive, Excel, Qualtrics, or similar systems.
  • Contribute to reports, publications, and project summaries.
  • Attend regular meetings with project leads and community partners.

Requirements

  • Enrolled part-time and in good academic standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • The ideal candidate holds or is pursuing a graduate degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quantitative or qualitative data analysis.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment.
  • Driven by a desire to impact change via public health research and practice.
  • Available approximately 10 hours/week.
