About the position

Columbia Sportswear Company Photo Studio is seeking a detailed Studio Art Director responsible for the creation of high-quality digital images and video produced by our Studio Team. The ideal candidate must be a passionate, motivated creative powerhouse with a hunger for excellence. They will need a critical eye to elevate the assets produced while capturing the DNA of the CSC family of brands. The Art Director will be responsible for directly managing both the in-house and freelance Art Direction and Stylist teams. The ability to manage multiple initiatives and experience in a high-volume studio is paramount to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce commercial product images
  • On-set art directing of PDP photography
  • Effectively communicate creative direction to on-set crews
  • Accountable for final image selection
  • Management of the full-time styling team
  • Oversee the styling budget and wardrobe closet management
  • Responsible for the creation and updating of brand specific style guides
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) of creative workflows
  • Continuous process improvement to balance superior quality with business-driven productivity goals
  • Works closely with creative directors and brand directors, to find creative, strategic solutions in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Inspires a culture of creative excellence. Pushes to elevate overall creative, strategic, and conceptual quality of every image.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial imaging studio
  • Experience with digital asset management workflows and processes that leverage a DAM for digital asset distribution. Creative Force experience a plus.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, working with FTE and freelancers, stylists, hair/makeup artist and models.

  • Understanding of digital technology as it pertains to photography and video capture.
